ISA 28 9-12 AND JOEL 2. IT IS A PROPHESY OF THE HOLY GHOST TO COME AND WHO IT WILL COME TO
Isa. 28 [9] whom shall he teach knowledge? And whom shall he make to understand doctrine? Them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. [10] For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: [11] for with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. [12] To whom he said this is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear
Joel. 2 [27] and ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel and that I am the LORD your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed. [28] And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: Isa was a prophesy to the old testament regarding the day of Pentecost, I believe Joel is for us today because there was only 120 in the upper room, then 3000 and 5000 Jesus appeared unto 500 after he resurrected, I believe these were old testament saints. In John 3:3 Jesus said that man must be born again.
John. 3
[3] Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
[4] Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
[5] Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
[6] That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
[7] Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior came to a lost world to die for you and I, so we can have not just life but life more abundantly. He went to the cross, and died body, soul, and spirit. For three days, and nights, to be the ultimate sacrifice for you and I, to replace animal sacrifice of the Old Testament. He shed his blood which became
the Power of God through the Holy Ghost. So when we receive it we have to power to overcome sin and strive to be like Jesus and overcome the nature of Adam, who was disobedient to God, in the Garden of Eden
John 7 [37] in the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, if any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. [38] He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
[39] (But this spoke he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) Had not died.
John 20 [22] And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
Jesus to told Peter he would build his church upon the rock that Jesus is the son of God or the revelation of his blood being the life line for his remnant.
Mathew16 [19] And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Through the Holy Ghost he was going to give us this power to overcome sin in our lives. We know the John the Baptist was the fore runner for Christ for people to repent and be baptized.
Mathew 3 [11] I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire.
Acts. 1 [5] For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. He was saying water Baptism isn’t enough for us to be saved we must be baptized with water Holy Ghost and with the fire. [6] When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? They were concerned about the natural not the Kingdom of God. Sound familiar? [7] And he said unto them, it is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. [8] But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
So we see John baptized in water, and Jesus had to be glorified by sacrificing himself on the cross so we could receive power through the Holy Ghost as a gift It is a gift he stands at the door knocking on our hearts.. The first time anyone in the bible received the Holy Ghost as a gift was in.
Acts 2 [17] and it shall come to pass in the last days, said God I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your
young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dreams. Exact words stated in Joel 2 except it wasn’t poured out on all flesh, all in the bible means all that were there.
Acts 2 [1] and when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. [2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. [3] And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, the word cloven means two like a cloven hoof of a clean beast that they sacrificed in the old testament. It sat upon each of them. [4] And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance, Other tongues were other languages but the utterance is the tongues of Angel’s mentioned in I Cor 13 chapter.
Acts 10 [14] Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: [15] Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: [16] (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) They had been baptized by John and believed already but wanted more. So the Apostles laid there hands on them they spoke in tongues and received the Holy Ghost. [17] Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
[18] And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money. Simon saw them do something, what did he see? He saw them speak in tongues just like on the day of Pentecost they heard the 120utter words they never heard or could not underrstand. When we speak in tongues we speak unto God in a mystery.
Let me show you some different accounts where people received the Holy Ghost as a gift. I can’t stress this point enough that there is a difference. They are of the same spirit but the Holy Ghost as a gift gives us more power.
Acts 10 [44] While Peter yet spoke these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. [45] And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost. [46] For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.
Notice Acts 10 says gift of the Holy Ghost not just were they filled but they received the gift
Acts 19 [1] And it came to pass, that, while Apollo’s was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
[2] He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, we have not so much as heard whether there is any Holy Ghost. [3] And he said unto them, unto what then was ye baptized? And they said Unto John’s baptism. [4] Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. [5] When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. [6] And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spoke with tongues, and prophesied.
These people or saints had been baptized by John and they believed in God. They had not even heard of the gift God was going to give them.
The reason for the Holy Ghost is that we may receive Power from the Father through the son so we can become like him, we must receive the Holy Ghost and be born again. Here are some of the purposes of having the gift of the Holy Ghost and not just having an anointing of God’s spirit.
John [26] likewise the Spirit also helps our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. [27] And he that searches’ the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because he market intercession for the saints according to the will of God. [28] And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose
Jesus Comforted the Apostle’s and revealed truth but he had to die and the Apostle’s were doubting and lacked faith that he would resurrect.
John 14 [15] if ye love me, keep my commandments. [16] And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; [17] even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but ye know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you. Just like stated in Isa 28 He told them, but they would not hear. We are like that in the flesh not willing to surrender our way’s because of pride. [18] I will not leave you comfortless: I will come onto you in the form of the Spirit.
John.7 Verses 38 to 39
[38] He that believes on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. [39] (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) Had not died yet. There is no eternal life without a sacrifice.
John.16 Verses 7 to 13
[7] Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. [8] And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: [9] Of sin, because they believe not on me; [10] Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; [11] Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. [12] I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. [13] Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.It is our guide to a higher walk and understanding in God then just saying we believe.
Luke.11
[13] If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? He is willing are you willing to receive the power of God to fight the flesh.
Acts.2
[38] Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Gift not water baptized, do you understand there is a difference. Everyone who calls on the name of god is not filled with his Holy Ghost.
Acts.4
[31] And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. They received a greater understanding and had power to fight with.
Acts.8 Verses 14 to 17
[14] Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: [15] Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: [16] (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) They already believed like stated in Romans 10:9-12 [17] Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. A greater walk in him. It will give us eyes to see and hear and a greater understanding.
I hope this lesson helps to understand what it is to really be born of God not just to say we believe but to actually have God the father’s spirit in us and it all comes from Jesus being the meidator to send us the comforter, Which is the spirit of the father thru his willingness to surrender. He is knocking on the door are you willing or do you not want to hear what the spirit is saying to the church. It is the beginning of us over coming or coming over to his side. Why wouldn’t you want to talk to the father? In a heavenly language. He that speak’s in an unkown tongue speaks unto the father. Paul said he is glad he speaks in tongue’s more than us all and he wishes everyone would speak in tongue’s. Be blessed find a man a God who is willing to lay his hands on you and allow God to come in. By one spirit are we Baptized in to one body. He that has seen the son has seen the father. Why wouldn’t you want to be a son and see the father and Jesus sitting on the right hand of the father. The Bridegroom is waiting for his Bride
