ENTERING INTO GOD’S WORD!
Our discussion today is how we approach the bible be-fore we read it. Do we open it up and start reading it? Do we pray before we open the bible? What do we pray about if we do pray first!
Then why are we reading it for edification, strength, or for obligation. We should ask ourselves, is it about want-ing to start the day off with him or because we feel like we are suppose to do it out of obligation?
Do you seek knowledge, and if we do can we understand what the bible is saying to us. Do we receive wisdom to lead us in a carnal or natural way? Do we receive wisdom in a super natural way or eternal way?
What is the reason we do read it? Is it for knowledge of the scriptures, so you can quote scriptures? I feel it is good to learn the bible and attain knowledge and what the scriptures are saying. I also believe it is great to learn the titles or verses.
We must ask ourselves is this to impress people, so they can see how smart we are? I believe it should be so we are able to teach people the bible. It will help them to learn the bible if they can learn were the scriptures are. We need to study ourselves approved!
2Tim.2[15] Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
We have the right to question what is being taught by a Pastor or Teacher. He should be able to teach us and us allow us to question what he is sharing or teaching us, in his or her lesson.
It is important we learn how to have eyes to see and ears to hear what is being shared.
Matt.13 [16] But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
[17] For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which we see, and have not been able to see them; and to hear those things which we hear, and have not been able to hear them.
These questions are important to ask ourselves when we are studying or learning the bible !
When is it talking about in biblical times !
What is the scripture talking about !
Who is the scripture talking about !
Why is this scripture sharing what it is saying!
How come is it is being shared !
We need to teach ourselves where the scripture is talking about, when sharing or teaching God’s word. Then we should ask God to take ourselves out of the way. Then to allow the Holy Ghost or Spirit to lead us and guide us into what is really the truth. The Bible talks how the spir-it of truth comes it will lead and guide us!
John.16[13] When the Spirit of truth, is come, it will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of itself but whatever we shall hear, that shall will speak: and he will show you things to come. The word of God is like a lamp or light that takes us out of the Carnal or earthly realm or utter darkness into a spiritual or Eternal realm! I have heard it said that the bible is the basic instruction before leaving this earth! As teachers we should examine who we are teaching the bible to! Paul said we should feed milk to babes not meat.
1Cor.3 [1] And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
[2] I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hith-erto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
So as young Christians we should desire to learn as said in:
1Pet.2 [1] Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speaking,
[2] As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
[3] If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
If we don’t understand things being said; we should ask someone who has knowledge, understanding and wis-dom as said in:
Prov.2 [5] Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.
[6] For the LORD gives wisdom: out of his mouth or min-istry comes knowledge and understanding.
2Pet.1 [5] And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
[6] And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
I hope this lesson gives you a deeper understanding of how to approach God’s word ask and you shall receive:
Luke.11 [9] And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
[10] For every one that asks shall receive; and he that seeks shall find what he ask or seeks; and to him that knocks it shall be opened.
Jesus told John in the book of Revelation; that he stands at the door knocking. We must open Gods word after praying this prayer Lord give us eyes to see and ears to hear. When I open your your word take my natural man out of the way and allow the spiritual man or spirit to see what you are saying to me. Then Lord allow the Holy Spirit to quicken my mind to completely understand, what you are teaching me.
Rev.3 [20] Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will dwell with him, and he with me.
It is important to know what the spirit will do for us as we see in:
Rom.8[11] But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells in you.
