Fear and Faith
My bible lesson is about fear and faith, it is a choice we must make as true believers. Do we want to have faith or have fear? Both of them control us in different ways.
1John.4 [18] There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
Psm 91[1]He that dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of his wings.
We know if we can enter his gates with thanksgiving the fear will not be able to control us.
There are three types of fear I am using in this lesson. One is a spiritual fear which is eternal and promotes overcomers. Then there is a manageable fear. Where we can manage it but not defeat it.
Then there is paralyzing fear, which can not be controlled without help from others or thru counsel or other methods. Without the word of God and the Baptism of the Holy Ghost we will keep repeating ourselves causing the fear to increase. Then faith will be destroyed and death sets in one way or another.
We fear things like our fiances, health, where were going to live, worrying about family. These are natural or carnal fears, that we can manage.
Then there is a paralizing fear. Which comes from guilt, a bad childhood. When we get caught up in our own ways and will that is not of God. It will over take us and we will become out of control of our addictions to drugs, food,or alcohol.
We know pride always leads to a fall. We must overcome these things thru the power of the Holy Ghost!
As true believers we must know God’s love is real. His love endures forever!
Pss.91[4] He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
[5] Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
[6] Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
[7] A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
We do not have the ability to overcome stuff in the flesh without the power of God. So to gain power we must have faith or it is impossible to please God. So Faith is the key to hope.
Prov.13[12] Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.
We must learn how to love the bible more than we love our live or ourselfs.
Heb.4[12] For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Jer. 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”
Mt 15:18-20 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies: These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.”
Our heart and our mind are our worst enemy. It is sin that keeps us from growing in God. If we have no faith we have no hope and we are led by fear. Which brings unbelief and leads us to not be manageable.
Now faith is a lot different than fear. Faith comes from the seeing and hearing the miracles of God in our lives and others.
Heb. 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things not seen.
Romans 12:3 God deals with every man the measure of faith.
This means some of us have great faith and some us have little faith. The lack of faith brings on the fear. Natural fear causes our minds not to be sound and will even cause sickness of the body and depression of the mind.
Faith helps us walk thru things we normally would be too afraid to do. We don’t get faith by saying some words. We get faith thru going thru our fires or trials as they come. When we overcome one then we are stronger to go thru the next fire or trial of our faith.
Jas.1[3] Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
[4] But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
We need to write down our fears and number them if you have to. Then examine those fears. Tell the Lord you want his help to defeat these fears. Then pray and if you have a heavenly language pray in it until you feel the joy of the spirit. Then study scriptures on faith and hope and love. Keep doing it until you feel the difference. It is ok to talk to people about your fears. We must understand that people cannot remove our fears. Only trusting God and having faith will take away all fear and give us joy unspeakable full of Glory and perfect peace and a sound mind.
2 Tim 1:7 God didn’t give us the spirit of fear but a sound mind. The bible ask is there any sick among you?
Jas.5[14] Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
[15] And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
When we are motivated by fear we make bad choices and decisions that when we have faith we do not make. I hope my lesson helps you remember one thing we dont have to make a decision right away. We can trust in God and give the things we can not manage and manage the things we can. Faith and hope and Charity will destroy the works of the enemy and fear will no longer over take our faith.
